Just picked up my 90 awd and both my front axles have torn inner and outer boots. What are my options??

Please advise.

Replace both axles with new ones. Just replacing the boots and stuffing fresh grease in there is not a good idea. You don't know how long the joints have been exposed to the elements, grit, dirt, etc.

Also, this is a driveline thread, and should have been posted in the Driveline topic. One of our hardworking Moderators will probably move this.

If you have junkyards near by you could see if they have any spare axles. I don't recommend getting axles from the parts store because they are crap. You can read my experience about them here.


I have used http://cvaxles.com to provide rebuilt axles. If they have axles that fit your car in stock they will send you a set, and then you send your old ones to them as cores. If they don't have any in stock, you'd need to send your axles to them to rebuild. If this is your daily driver, that may not work.
