My wife's AC compressor died after I had it recharged last fall. It's getting hot and I am going to fix it.

In the FSM the there are two part numbers for the AC compressor: 73020 AA030 & 730AA031 so it would seem they are interchangeable. The subaru dealership gave the the turbo AC compressor part no. as 73011 AA020. The dealership wants $796 for the compressor and I have found NA models new for about $400. I'm a bit weary of getting a reman since I don't want to have to redo this job anytime soon if the reman fails.

The current compressor is the Calsonic variety. I don't have the car in front of me but when I get home I can check the numbers on it.

My question is are the 90-93 AC compressors from the NA models a direct swap for the turbo models?

The current AC compressor in the car is 73011 AA090.

Some suggestions I have found searching this site for compatible AC compressors are:
73011 AA091, 73011 AA710, 73011 AA031, & 73011 AA090.

My Subaru dealership gives 73011 AA020 as the replacement compressor for $796.

Subarugenuineparts.com says that 73011 AA090 is no longer available and instead use 73008 AA710.

I found a brand new Calsonic 73011 AA091 for only $130 so I will probably purchase that and hope it fits.

The 73011 AA090 & 91 supersede up to the 710, so you should be fine with the 91.

The Calsonic 73011 AA091 AC compressor was a direct fit and is working like a charm!

If so...inquiring minds want to know. I could use a brand new calsonic compressor for $130!
