Hey guys I hope you can help me brain storm this I've had nothing but issues with this car. One night I stopped at 7&11 I come out and it doesn't start, it is throwing random codes 13 cam sensor 17 injector one 35 purge solenoid, 45 & 49 air flow meter. I've in the past year replaced the purge solenoid, maf, plugs, wires, coil, pump and hoses. The car had no leaks in air since it was smoke tested just last month also I checked all the lines. I'm completely lost I still have to scope test the crank and cam sensor and check the pump. Any ideas on what else I can check I'm just completely frustrated.

I want to add that before it completely wouldn't start it would start then sputter and immediately die. That only happened about ten times before it actually would not start.

I just had the same problem and had me confused for a day. First, have you checked the fuel pump? Mine the pump was fine but had water in the tank. It sound like a fuel problem to me since it was sputtering and now it won't start.

Does the engine crank or just doesn't do anything?

Engine cranks but won't start when it does start it sounds off timing and starving for fuel then dies still having the same issue. Could it be the igniter or cam sensor?

Fuel pump & fuel pump relay has been replaced as well now. Also for four days the car started and ran like a dream just a slight uneven idle but nothing to worrying then randomly it died again now im just frustrated was suppose to be taking it on a trip now im stuck.

If you've done that, you should check the timing. The belt may have slipped, is the car auto or manual? Some people have had issues with the belt slipping after driving it and then not being able to start it.

I gave you an idea on facebook a few minutes ago, and i'll get you the pictures here in a bit but have you inspected the plug at the pump? they can go bad as well, that's also a common problem.

What are those pictures of?

I thinks that's the diodes for the fuel circuit.

You mean the diodes for the fuel injection/ECU?

Yes, I think I saw this in the wiring schematic somewhere.

Yes there is a MPFI diode that ties into the "alt 2" circuit as well as a high beam lighting diode.
There are probably a few more, but those are the two I know of off the top of my head.

You can see in the pictures that one burned up at some point and was replaced. I don't know if beatersubi or the person before him fixed it. The other odd thing is the fuel pump wires are backwards on this car as well.

What do you mean the fuel pump wires are backwards?

At the plug for the pump. They're backwards. I had to change the pins when I pulled the walbro out of the white car and put it in my 92ss. I swap the whole assembly. When I swapped both, they flowed opposite directions.

Update;
Looks like I never posted the resolution to this problem!! Common issue, under the rear seat is a plug that goes to the fuel pump. At that plug is an issue where the ground will actually melt!! bypassed the plug and the car has not given me any starting issues since!!

Thanks for letting us know the resolution.
