whats up guys new to the hybrid engine world i have the ej22t block along with a set of ej25d heads, been reading everywhere on the site about different ways to put this together but am still uncertain about head gaskets. ive read good and bad things about running stock head ej22t gaskets but also heard bad about using others as well. if anyone can point me in a better direction for choice in this that would be awesome. im literally waiting to do the full swap till all the parts are in and the passenger head is tapped. im looking to run a 18g-20g turbo and once its all put together abd running well get a robtune done.
thanks,
Connor

First time around I used cometic 22t gaskets. Drove the hell out of the engine. Did NOT resurface anything. Gaskets lasted about 6k miles.

Second time around I used oem 22t gaskets & resurfaced the heads. Lasted about as long as the first set but that engine got a rod knock.

This was with 20h heads. Practically the same casting as 25d.

It's very very rare for the 22t to blow head gaskets. I've used the oem gasket with hybrid engines before without issues (lasted 40k miles till I spun a bearing)

When you start getting to the MLS (multi layer steele) you have to do more cleaning of the surfaces.
