RRUN Racing readies for National events in Alberta
VANCOUVER, BC Two Canadian National Pro-Rally events will be held in
Alberta on consecutive weekends. On May 19-20, 2001, Edson, Alberta will
be hosting the Big Horn Rally. And on May 25-26, 2001, Calgary, Alberta
will be hosting the Rocky Mountain Rally. These events are also part of the
Western Canadian Rally Championship Series.
RRUN Racing is a Vancouver-based rally team and they will be making their
trek to Alberta to compete in both these events. This will be the first
national launch of their rally car, a 1992 Subaru Legacy Turbo. The first
time we saw this team was earlier this year at the Cochrane Rally of the
Ranchlands where they took second overall and second in class.
"We're looking forward to this opportunity," says Mark Ward, RRUN Racing
driver. " These events draw some of the best drivers from all over Canada
and the competition is going to be great! We've been working hard to
prepare for these events and we look forward to the great hospitality
Alberta offers every time." Mark Ward has had previous experience
competing at the Rocky Mountain Rally last year where he rolled his Datsun
510 near the end of the race. " This year, I'm not going to make that same
mistake," laughs Mark.
"We're facing some good competition at these events," says Ken Kwong, RRUN
Racing Co-Driver. "In the Production 4 class, we're going to be competing
with the new Subaru WRXs that are being driven by Patrick Richard and the
Paynters. And, there's also going to be a number of other Production 4
teams that we're going to keep an eye out for." Ken had the opportunity to
co-drive for Patrick Richard earlier this year at the Oregon Trail
Pro-Rally, where they finished 10th overall and 1st in class. " I learned
alot co-driving for Patrick. He's given me some great advice and I'm
hoping some of that will help us at these up-coming events," says Ken.
RRUN Racing will be debuting a new sponsor, Glico Canada Corporation. They
are the exclusive importers of the famous chocolate-coated biscuits called
"Pocky". Boxed samplers of these snacks will be available from RRUN Racing
through out the two events. " We're pleased to welcome our new
sponsor. They are a good example of non-traditional sponsorship," says
Mark. " We believe that rally racing is more than just the fast cars and
dirt roads, it's about the fans too! With Glico Canada, we would like to
give back something to the fans. So come visit us at the Parc Expose or
drop by our service area and get a sample or two for the hills," says Ken.
RRUN Racing's support is generously sponsored by A&J Motorsport, RRUN
Ventures Inc. and OK Tire and Service Centers.
