22T/205 Hybrid crankcase breather problem

I am building a 22T/205 hybrid. I went to install the WRX coolant crossover pipe and the 22T crankcase breather elbow is in the way: Image

I was going to cut the nipple off above the flange, tap it, jb weld a bolt in there, and grind the head off the bolt till it clears the pipe, and use weeping green Loctite to hold it in place.

But how do I vent the crankcase now? I think WRXs have the crankcase breather near the bellhousing but I'm not sure.

I've been told an STi crossover pipe clears but I don't know what year, and I'd like to avoid purchasing one as they are quite expensive.

Does anyone have any suggestions? If you have a similar build, how did you handle it?

I'm ready to be done with this project, lol.

Also, the 205 didn't have the breather at the top of the block. Only the 22T 255 and 257 does that I know of.

I don't know about the JDM engines.

Pull it out and tap in a freeze plug. Or get a STi crossover pipe from a Subi recycler....that should not be that much, maybe $40

If you look through my build thread there might be better pics of the crossover pipe shape, than the one I posted for you on Nasioc.

I'll check it out. Seems like plugging it won't cause any problems so I might just go that route.

As far as the 205 not having a crankcase breather, that is what I had been reading but when I looked up the pcv diagram there is a crankcase breather on the backside of the engine near the flywheel access cover. Also, the pcv assembly is a t type assembly and the bottom connects to the breather. Is easy to see in images in the Internet as well.

That larger crank case breather is on all of the Subaru blocks.

If you do plug it, make sure it's in there nice and tight with the proper size freeze plug. One of my friends plugged his ej257 port with a plug that was just a little small (std vs metric). It leaked oil and the only way out was into the crankcase and fish it out of the oil pan....sketchy maneuver in my opinion.

Since your motor is assembled, tapping it for a plug is not really an option....which is really the best option if engine is disassembled.

I know I'm late to the game, but that breather is to help equalize pressure between the crankcase and heads. That's the sole job of that port.
