Manual pedal swap help.

Currently midst 4EAT to 5mt swap, I am running into a problem swapping 5mt pedals (06 WRX) in to my 93 Legacy Turbo.

I muscled the 5mt pedal set almost into position, but there seems to be a giant wiring harness in the way of the clutch master cylinder mounting bracket on the pedal set.

I can see it is directly on top of the mounting bolt hole for the bracket.

How have others mitigated this?

I think I solved the issue. I took a peek at my RS to see how that harness is routed on a manual car.

There is a cavity above the harness (the harness was obstructing it originally) that I could move and force it into.
That being said, it was not easy....20+ years of heat and gravity forces solidified the wire insulators and harness housing into a hard plastic. 30 minutes of heat gun and working the harness yielded some hope.

The pedals are about 75% in....just barely in the clutch master cylinder firewall holes and brake master cylinder studs.

Yea I just had to muscle the harness over some. Think I might have mentioned it or took pictures in my build thread

More issues...

I have installed all of the mounting bolts, except the 3rd clutch master cylinder mounting bolt.....it's still 3/8" off. The master cylinder stud nuts are tight, but from the inside of the cabin I can feel threads on the studs on the inside of the firewall. Assembly seems crooked.

Not sure why this is happening, I can't even budge the pedal assembly with a crowbar. I'm wondering if that harness is still interfering.

I drove around, and the break pedal works fine. With all the other mounting bolts installed, everything is pretty solid.

I remember something about not all the bolts lining up. Still worked.

Yeah I had to muscle the harness out of the way.

Can you take a picture of the bolt issue on the clutch MC?

Sorry for no pics.

I just finished the 4EAT to 5mt swap and the clutch works great. Feels the same as when it was in the RSTi. I will not worry about the one missing bolt in the pedal mounting bracket at this point.

I forgot how good these cars feel with a manual transmission.

when I did my swap I also was not able to all of the bolts to fit. I rocked it without that bolt for a while but the next time i had the peddles out I just notched that one hole over a bit and it fit just fine.

I'm hoping I'll never have the pedals out again....what a pain that was.

That is a good idea.

Yeah, it's a huge pain in the ass to get those pedals in.
