Does anyone know if you can swap a ej20. Into an Ej22 car? The ej20 is a dual can where my Ej22 is not

There's a lot of info about this in the engine section of the forum. Check out the stickies.

There will be a decent amount of work involved.

I don't know what ej22 you have, because you didn't list what car you have. I don't know what ej20 you're looking at because you also didn't list which one you were looking at.

I have a 94 legacy turbo. This motor is a 93 dohc twin turbo motor?

It can work with some modifications to misc exhaust and intake configurations.

Would I be able to slap my 22turbo intake and exhaust on it and just run it without twin turbo?

Hi, spend some time in here: http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic.php?t=38247 It covers DOHC head swap and complete dohc engine swap, from the mechanical side.

If you have a left hand drive, the exhaust from the twin turbo will interfere with your steering column. If you have a right hand drive, no fitment issue. You'll need a twin turbo crossmember, or custom up pipes made regardless.

If you want to run any engine as a single turbo, you can get away with just swapping in a turbo crossmember, and the up and down pipe will fit, or have custom pipes made. There is no exhausts that fit the 1st gen legacy, except for those that are made for it specifically. Any exhaust you find can be made to work by a welder, time and money.

A phase 1 SOHC intake manifold (1990-1998) will not fit phase 1 dohc heads (1989-1998) heads. Nor will any other year sohc intake on phase 1 dohc heads..

The wiring is another story. Any turbo swap will involve ton of wiring.

I already have a turbo motor. I have a 94 legacy turbo ej22t. I found a low like ej20 I want to just make it a single turbo

So it should work without having to swap computers?

Not swapping computers? I wouldn't bother. It wouldn't be any better than what you have now. But would have less torque.

You really got to do some searching on this.

I did briefly run a full ej20g (same thing as ej20H but single turbo) off the stock 22t electronics. Only change I made was add an intercooler.

It ran exactly the same as the 22t, just less torque. Maybe a teensy bit more top end. But like I said, it's a waste of time, because the 2.0L dohc motors really shine with a bigger turbos and proper tuning (or even a normal ej20g ecu).

IMO, you'll get a lot more for your money by keeping your stock engine and getting a robtune from robtune.com (and upgrading your turbo, injectors and adding an intercooler). That's what I ended up doing - went back to a 22t and did the mentioned upgrades.

I never had an original engine. That's why I'm asking. When I bought the car it has a N/A motor with a turbo slapped on it

But you're saying the 20 will run on the 22 ecu?

Which 22 ecu?

I ran my ej20g engine on my 22t ecu (my car is a factory turbo). I put the ej22t pink injectors on so it didn't run super rich.
