automatic awd transfer case

To make a long story short my awd quit a while ago and I finally got
aoound to removing the transfer case from the transmission. It
appears that the rear output shaft bore in the case is worn beyond
repair and needs replacement. It appears that subaru redesigned this
case with a steel liner and that the new rear case is available as a
seperate replacement part. Does anybody know the part number as well
as a good subaru dealer to order from who won't hurt me too much?
The car is a 1991 sport sedan. Thanks

I know about this...you probably had the infamous "Torque Bind"
problem too...shuddering when accelerating at low speeds, etc..

I'm cursed with this too, though my AWD still works well.

This was discusses on the USMB about 6 months or so ago. I can't
remember who was having the problem, but if you search for Torque
Bind, i'm sure you'll eventually come up with the part #.

Let us know how it goes.
