Yup, even the '96 and later turbo's will bolt-up to the stock up & down
pipe. The difference between the pre/post 96 units (as far as mounting
goes) is in the compressor outlet location and I believe the compressor
inlets are different as well.

Here you see aTD04 from a 97 impreza modified to fit our uk legacy turbo
[note 90degree bend] This turbo is smaller but spins up much quicker
