Change water pump ?

Hi all,

It's time for the 2nd cambelt (200000 km) and I wonder if I should change
the water pump when I'm in there ? The car is a -92 Legacy RS. My guess
is that it has never been changed.
What is the expected lifetime for the waterpump ?

cheers

Jesper

I've seen that same issue addressed in other chat groups and all seem
to agree that every time you change the timing belt, you ought to
change the water pump. The RS is a turbo isn't it? I have the US spec
1994 Turbo Legacy, and, I will admit, I didn't change mine at 60000
miles, oops. But I definitely will at 120000 miles.

Usually you want to change water pump every other timing belt change. I had
my pump replaced at 120k along with belts.

If the water pump leaks, the timing belt may not break immediately,
it happened on my MX-6. You can take a chance.
