wheel bearing seals

Is there anyone on the list who has any experience with front wheel bearings
and seals for an early model Legacy, 1990 4WD. I am replacing mine since
they were starting to go and I had to put new front axles in and had the
hubs torn out anyways. My problem has been that the front BCA/National
seals, inner and outer, that I ordered are not the same as the OE ones that
I had taken out. The National seals have a raised outer lip for a "dust
shield" which prevents them from being pressed into place where the original
ones came out of. If I press in the front axle spindle will it help to suck
the seals into place? What about other manufactuers such as Chicago Rawhide
or others that have seals without the dust shield? Any info would be
helpful. Thanks.

wheel bearing seals

John-I recently replace both front wheel bearings, seals & spindle nuts using factory parts; do you have a dealer nearby who can get you the correct seals? I`d be careful with any seals that were`nt factory as you may have a sealing problem when you press the new bearing on. Just a thought-ROD (No. Az.)
