Wires through firewall

Hi all,

I'm hard-wiring some 12V accessories (HAM radio, inverter, map light) on my 93 turbo, 5MT. On my old 92 auto, I ran the wires through the firewall where the clutch master is. Any suggestions on where I should run them through on this car? Can I squeeze through somewhere?

Thanks

Ryan

Lemme guess, you're scared of drilling holes...

I'm not

Run it through where the throttle cable goes through.....i've run more wires through there....it's ridiculous.

You may need to put a small slit in the rubber grommet.

Yup, there's a few different rubber grommet thingys to go through. I've got a 4 gauge stereo cable and my vacuum hose for the boost gauge running through there.

OK, throttle cable grommet it is. I had a look and couldn't find any grommets that didn't have anything through them (that's why I used the clutch master one on my old auto), though that one looked like it had room to spare.

Thanks

Ryan,

I've used the throttle cable area with success with 12v power wires. As a side note --- at one point I did an install of a Icom IC-706 (mk1). I made a bracket to replace the passenger-side visor and put the faceplate there. I actually put the xcvr in the little storage compartment that my MY90 wagon has just behind the right-rear wheel-well (opposite the jack compartment). It worked quite nicely as it was a perfect fit with the whole installation being very clean.
