to all of those who have removed that 2nd water tank on the top of the engine
to put on an IC!!!!!

if you have broke off the petons from it and epoxied on new ones, it will
hold for a month or so.

BUT

order a new tank and keep it with you, as mine failed on me yesterday on RT2.
its real strange to have to tell someone "yeah it over heated but i had the
part to fix it in my trunk, and its all fixed but now i need antifreze, got
any?" No one did, so i had to drive slow, stop, and repeat for a few miles
to get to a gas station... then everything was cool... (sorry had to say it)

the whole point of this... get the new part and put it in, dont think the
epoxied parts will hold forever...

These tanks are chronic failure items on the turbo Legacy. You know
you have a problem when you walk in to the parts counter and tell
them
that you have a turbo and need a ta-- and they reach under the
counter
and produce one of these.

the more i think about it, the less i like the idea of an aluminum tank...
unless there is some sort of way to let the car vent out more of the
underhood heat (read: reverse vents are a good idea); that aluminum tank is
just sitting there absorbing heat. Since your radiator fluid is already
getting some heat to it, having a heated tank will only make things worse,
correct? I think getting a new stock tank would be a better idea.

It is not really adding heat to the system it is thermo-siphoning
water after shutdown and heat is not really being produced then.
before shutdown the water crossover pipe and anything else that is
metal could be absorbing a little heat. I just sent a manifold out
for
JETHOT Iwonder what that will show.
