Howdy everyone ...

Can some one tell me the bore x stroke of the EJ22t that comes in
the trubo legacy? I am trying to find some DOHC heads that bolt up
to the engine.

No guys .. I was told the exact opposite of this by a Subaru mechanic with 10 years experience. Not just warranty style work either, but modifying too. He said the the bores won't work together... is he wrong?

I was told that the DOHC was 2.5rs heads. bolt on.

I know for a FACT that there are at least a dozen EJ22ts with 2.5
heads on running around, the most infamous being Byron's Impreza.

It will work.

In looking closer at the specs, i do see that the 2.5 does have a
99.5mm bore as opposed to the EJ22t's 96.9.

I can't say exactly what Byron has done to make it work, if anything,
but this is sort of a common thing to do when building an EJ22t.

I know someone on the STi-Mlist has probably discussed it, and it's a
safe bet that it's been gone over a dozen or more times in the i-
club, so i'd really start looking in those places.

Yes we use 2.5 heads on the EJ20 motors also. Certain 1998 outback
models use a large bucket solid lifter design which enables you run
run a larger cam profile, the only problem is the intake ports are
smaller so need to be bored out to line up with the EJ20 manifolds, I
imagine this is the case with the EJ22.
