Hello.
Recently, I've been getting a ABS warning light on the dash. I have a
feeling one of the wheel speed sensors is going out due to the fact
that the problem doesn't occur frequently. Anyway, how the heck
do you read the trouble codes for the ABS system? Looking at the
manual, it appears the ABS controller (with light) is under the passenger
side seat. I've been looking at it (or trying to, anyway) and I can't
figure out how to get the dumb carpet up enough to actually see
the unit. Does anyone know the correct procedure to expose the
controller?
I have a 1990 Legacy Wagon.

easiest way is to remove the seat.
trouble codes (led flashing) are listed 1 -10 and then a 16.

I was afraid of that... is there another way to do it? Since the problem is slightly
intermittent, I'd have to drive seatless until it occurred.

first check the basics:
brake fluid level , brake fluid leakage, brake drag, brake pads & rotors, tire specifications, tire wear and air pressures.
Attached is the self diagnosis procedure ex service manual.......
