fix brown headlight covers and turbo expansion tank

Went to Autozone to look for something to reseal leaking turbo expansion tank
while waiting for custom job from JC Sports. After looking at all the
adhesive stuff ended up going with what I used two years ago. PERMETEX WELD
STICK, about the size of a roll of nickels, gray claylike stuff that hardens
after you mush it together for a couple of minutes. I like it because it's
clay consistency allows you to press it into small places but still build up
a nice thick strong supporting bond around those tubes on the expansion tank
that break off. Dries hard as metal, can drill, file, etc, bonds metal to
plastic, and seals.
Also picked up some stuff to clean exterior of intercooler I just bought of
oil, dirt, grease, paint, etc. Engine degreaser section had good selection
of similar stuff but went with GUMOUT BRAKE PARTS CLEANER, which seemed to
have more ingredients, formulated to attack a tougher gang of deposits.
Worked good.
Finally, and most satisfying, since I didn't really expect satisfactory
results, just happened to see BLUE MAGIC PLASTIC AND PLEXIGLAS CLEANER. I
had been told something like this could clean up the brown haze on my
headlight covers, but the haze looked so bad I didn't really expect a cleaner
to be the fix. I have been looking to buy some used covers with no luck.
Good thing. The $3 cleaner brought the covers back to new. Check it out.
Tune in next week, when we'll update progress on the intercooler parts
collection activity, and take a look at how that WELD STICK is holding up
under the challenge of pressurized superheated water.
