RS Coil Pack

I am 99.9% sure that this is what the spark plug wires plug into on the top of
our flat engines. Is this correct? My understanding is that the coil pack on
the RS provides 15% more spark than our stock coil pack. Has anyone put an RS
coil pack on their Legacy Turbo? Do you notice the difference? My coil pack
is working fine as far as I know I'm just interested in the performance gains
by doing this upgrade. And are all of the RS coil packs equal from '98 to '01
and is it the same as the coil pack on the WRX?

Fred-The best example of using a late RS coil can be found in Brian`s 600+ hp Impreza; he uses it along with an MSD unit for maximum spark. Try his website @ www.bspec-usa.com & check out the pictures/info. Based on that, I added the late coil, 8mm NGK wires + the new MSD #6212. I had the #6211 when my motor was NA, but now I need a boost timing master + a boost sensor option, hence the MSD upgrade. It`s a fool-proof way to insure more spark. Enjoy---ROD (AZ.)

RS Coil Pack

I'll second what Rod says, the coilpack is only one part of a good
system. You'll need very good wires, i've got 8.5mm Magnecor, and
an upgraded ignition like the MSD to make any change at all.

Just adding the 6212 made a very noticeable difference in my car,
well worth the cost ($300).
