speedo/cable

I removed the transmission on my 90 legacy to replace the clutch.
Since I reinstalled it, the speedometer doesn't work below about 25
mph. I think I may have reinstalled the cable wrong and I'd like some
input. There is an engine support bracket on the firewall that
attaches to the top of the engine near the clutch lever assembly.
It's a tubular bar about 1/4" thick and about 5 inches long with a
round bushing on either end. Some wiring and the spededo cable are
run around/under it. Should the speedometer cable be routed above or
below this support bracket? I think if the cable is bent in too sharp
an angle it won't work properly? Thanks in advance for the advice.
