Hi guys !
I went and sold my sweet MY92 Legacy RS Wagon, and bought a MY96
Impreza GT (WRX) Sportswagon instead. I've only had the car for a
week, so I haven't had the time to "explore" it that much yet, but it
seems there are very few (none?) differences in the engine bay
compared to the Legacy. I know this isn't a Impreza group, but does
anyone have a comment on this?

Not much difference, the model you have the internals of the head
should be different and that is about it (solid lifter vs hydraulic)
And the inlet manifolds are slightly different and the location of
the inlet pipes to the turbo are under the manifold rather than
around the back.

Hey Miki,

There are very few differences because the exterior of the engines are identical, they use the same basic block.

The 2.2 Legacy has a piston bore of 96.9 mm vs the 2.0 Imprezza bore of 92 mm, about 3/16 of an inch.

The more the factory can keep stuff the same, the less it costs. Check out a Pontiac Bonneville, a Buick Le Sabre, a Chevy Caprice, they're all GM, and all the same. Ditto, Ford Motor Company or Chrysler, for cars of the same engine size.

Oops, the IC is of course in a different location... front-mounted on
Legacy RS and on the top of the engine on Impreza WRX/GT...
