I've already got a 2.5" cat-back (resonator-back, technically
speaking), but i would be interested in a downpipe which i could
then have mated to a revised setup.

It's so cool to see this happening :D

Wow, Legacy Central Dave, the list M O D E R A T O R wants in
Are we too cool to drool or what ? !

I repeat here, the info on a possible N/A variant, and REQUEST FOR INFO from Russ Kappleman of Subspeed, because the beginning duplicated an earlier post, and it may have been overlooked by part of the team.

Larry:

The way it all works out is like this:

On the original equipment exhaust systems FOR THE EA82 SERIES OF CARS the
center pipe and the rear muffler section are the same on both the normally
aspirated cars and the turbo cars. The outlet of the 'Y' pipe on an NA car
comes out to the exact location in 3 dimensional space as the outlet of the
downpipe on the turbo cars. This was done so that Subaru could save money and
use the same set of pipes for all of the EA82 cars including the ER27 XT6 (I
have one of these as well).

It would help me tremendously if your group could determine if Subaru did the
same thing with the Legacy series as they did with the Loyale series. I
speculate that they did but I have no easy way of knowing since the only
Legacy I have is turbocharged. If they did then it MAY be possible to
accommodate the NA Legacy owners. The reason I say MAY is I do not know what
issues exist with pipe size and flange bolt patterns.

As of this writing I am trying to digitize the downpipe inlet flange into
AutoCAD so that I can produce these units. As for the outlet flange the
catalogs that I have for universal flanges only show up to 2.5 inch for a two
bolt flange. 3 inch flanges have three bolt holes. I do not want a 3 bolt
flange for the downpipe outlet because I want to use the same style of
interface between the downpipe outlet and center pipe inlet as the factory
which is a 2 hole spring bolt cone shaped composite gasket system. I am able
to duplicate this in the 2.5 inch size for the Loyale series of products but
am unsure at this point if it will be possible to do it in the 3 inch for the
Legacy. If these flanges are just simply not available then I will have to
make them (I'd much rather buy them) but then there is the issue of an
appropriate gasket which I have no idea at this point is it even exists.

As you can see development of a series of products that are cross compatible
is a rather complex task. Let me know what you are able to
determine and I will do what ever is possible to make this happen.

Regards,
Russ

So anybody out there by any chance have the answer to that one?

Does the 91- 94 N/A Legacy 'Y' pipe terminate at the same place the turbo downpipe outlet does?

If the center pipe and the rear muffler section are the same on both the normally aspirated and the Turbo Legacys, like in the Loyal series, that would be a good clue. Maybe somebody has access to part numbers, though I think the Turbo Legacy muffler is different, which could throw the part number off without really representing a difference from our perspective.

Again, I offer my vehicle to any parties within a reasonable driving distance of Seattle to swap parts and see if this works.

P.M. me if anyone want's to set this up.
