see link for general info and it also gives data on the restriction in the air inlet.

additional info:
Instead of a pod filter, which i tried, i opted to remove the resonator
> box from under the front guard. You need to remove the splash panel to gain
> access to the resonator box.
> Once removed you will be able to see where the airfilter box draws air in
> from. Remove the airfilter box completely from the engine bay. On the bottom
> half of the box where the air inlet is, drill out the 2 pop rivets holding
> the metal ring and remove the rubber surround.
> You now have a good free flow air inlet. Re-fit the bottom half of the box, and you will see how the hole in the inner guard doesn't quite line up with the hole in the air box. Using a bastard file, file the hole out in the airbox to suit the hole in the innergaurd.
To further this mod and reduce induction noise i fitted a 3" pvc pipe elbow, covered in foam, pointing forwards. length attached, covered in foam. This draws cold air in from the
> inner gaurd with no restriction.
> I did have a K & N pod filter but removed this as it was too noisy. There
> was a noticeable difference between std and the pod setup - There was NO
> performance change between
> the previous POD setup and the 3" PVC inlet setup. looks original also.
> save your money, go the PVC way.
