Underdrive Pulley's

Anyone ever installed a Underdrive Pulley on a 92 Legacy? I am going
to try and get one on mine before the new year and want to see if
anyone has any suggestions on brand, Unorthodox is the only one I've
found, and any pros-cons on going with all same diameter pulleys or
the slightly smaller. Any suggestions on where to buy them the
cheapest.

Grant,
I have one on my 90 Legacy. I like it, seems to rev a little quicker, and get better gas mileage. I do have a N/A Legacy. I know Dave installed one on his turbo Legacy wagon, and didn't notice much difference, if I remember correctly.
Biggest help is reducing rotational mass on the crank, the smaller diameter helps a little, but the weight of the pulley is the big help. If you can find a stock diameter pulley that is aluminum, I'd go for that. I know JC Sports had one....but they've been capuut for a while now. I got my unorthodox pulley from SPO Motorsports.

Grant-I have one (underdrive) on my `92. It`s an Unorthodox pulley that was fairly easy to install. Though underdriving will gain a little HP, the main benefit is the lighter weight. My recommendation is to go with the stock diameter, lightened pulley so there won`t be any belt/adjustment issues like I had. Unorthodox also offers light, stock diameter pulleys for the P/S & the alternator (a project for when I build my 2.4 stroker motor.) Try Teague`s or SPO for your pulley(s). Good huntin`---ROD (AZ.)

These are full size lightweight pulleys. I got the Unorthodox
pulley from Cobb myself; It's smaller than OEM and came with belts,
however the belt for the alternator was TOO LONG and I had to get a
shorter one myself.

Most instructions say you must remove the radiator fans for access,
but this is unnecessary if you have the right tools. An offset box
end wrench will reach the tensioner bolts. You will need a breaker
bar for the pulley bolt. Also torque that bolt back to specs unless
you fancy having it fly off later.
