Lower Control Arm

I had my first experience with my '92 turbo in the snow the other night and it
was fun for a while until I hit a curb. The damage is a serverly bent lower
control arm and a cracked rim. I was wondering if there is any difference in
suspension between the turbo and non-turbo models? Where is the best place to
get a lower control arm and a rim. I am in the middle of Iowa and there isn't
a subaru dealer within 50 miles. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. I
need to get my car back out there before the snow melts.

You could do an upgrade and replace them with aluminium. If you go that way,
internet is the best shot - or call the seller directly. There's a mess of
online folks that sell them. Cobb has them for sure... But then you are
caught waiting for them to show up.

How's your tread wear? You could up your rims to 16's (or bigger) if you
have any desire to do that sort of thing - now you have an excuse.

Just a plain ol' replacement? I'd hit the yellow pages for junkyards.

Lower Control Arm

You wouldn't believe it, but in the rain last week i swerved to miss
a dog and did exactly the same thing, only my rims just had a big
chunk come out of one of the spokes! (still will use it as an excuse
to go 16's)

It is an easy repair, so don't worry about that, (with the
replacement control arm it took me about 30 mins, with just a socket
set! :)

Easiest just to get one from a wrecker! Getting the aluminium etc.
will give you a little less weight, but i doubt you will really
notice much of a difference.
In Australia (where i live) the control arm was $175AUD from most
wreckers, so it should only be about $100USD over there.

I was just glad that it took all the brunt and buckled rather than
damaging my steering rack or something similar! Bet you are too! :)

If you need some advice etc. feel free to ask, George, Aus.
