Exhaust sizing...

Josh-If you can get a GOOD cat-back system for $200, finish it & get the hi-flow cat also (I use a 2.5" cat with my 2.25" system.) Remember, I have late design headers with my system so I have virtually NO restriction at all. Check with someone you trust & see if they recommend 2.5" with your stock exhaust manifold(s). I use a Dynomax muffler that`s reasonable on cruising sound but is louder when you jump on it. It`s also reasonably priced. Most of the I-Club guys I`ve talked to like the Stromung muffler hands-down. If you go with the ball bearing turbo, it`ll boost to 10 psi almost instantly (with the correct boost control set-up.) So....if you`re going with the alcohol injection, you can easily run 10 psi with no worries on your NA motor. Remember, this type of turbo boosts instantly if you sneeze!! The Stromung comes with dual tips and you can add any kind of dual tip set-up on a muffler like the Dynomax. Make sure you talk to someone who KNOWS the info about exhaust system back pressure; it`ll be well worth your research. See `ya---ROD (SOON TO BE MR. MEGA-BOOST)

This is mainly aimed towards Rod since he was usin the turbo setup I would possibly consider in the future, but I'm open to any input.

Ok question is....there's a place where I could get basically a complete custom mandrel bent cat back system for around $200......I would probably spend a little more, and do the entire system to the header pipe and get a high flow cat.....

But anyway....my question is sizing. I don't want to get something too small.....in the event I do decide to put a turbo on later.....yet I don't want to get something to large, and kill the way the car drives now.

I am leaning towards 2.25" system with high flow cat.....I really haven't given much thought about muffler.....I really don't want something that is going to be overly noisy.....maybe make some noise when you are revving in the higher rpms....sorta like takin the intake silencer provides. But I want to be able to drive down the freeway and not hear a drowning exhaust sound.

So first thing....which was meant for rob...but anyone feel free to answer. If I get the turbo kit.....I don't think I'd go as nuts as you....and go with alcohol injection and what not. Probably would end up stickin with the same turbo...the stage 3 turbo upgrade....and would probably go with the stage 2 kit that has an intercooler. I'm assuming I really wouldn't be able to run boost much higher then 6psi....8psi at the very most...but I'm really not sure.

So with those boost numbers in mind.....do you think a 2.25" exhaust system is adequate enough? Or would a 2.5" be more suited?

If there is goin to be a decent difference between the 2.25" and 2.5" I'll just wait and do the exhaust when I do the turbo.

Other thing would be mufflers....anyone have any suggestions....something that would fit what I'm lookin for as described above. I'd also like dual tips......just like those better ;)

Thanks for any insight.

Josh
