I want to see the types of driveshaft used. I see that some subaru have multiple U-joints while others use a sort of rubber connection between the two parts. Look at yours, all of them have U-joints right after the transmission and before the differential, the middle joints are what Im interested in.

I've spent some time staring at the bottom of my pig and I know what u r talkinging about. You are right about the two UJ's but the centre "rubber coupling" you talk of is actually just a means of holding the centre portion of the shaft in place so it doesn't wobble about. The shaft passes right thru the rubber. If you have a swing on the shaft you will see that it moves around a bit in the rubber support. Hope this clarifies this for you.
GARY.

Not the center bearing, the shaft is actually two parts with another joint
