Koyo radiator question
Puting a new engine in my SS is turning out to be a donkey show.
Need a new rad, because the old one is too rusted to get back in. Seems the general concensus here is to just put a new rad in as opposed to picking up a used one.
Found an online parts place that has the Koyo rad, but it lists several parts #'s here's the link
http://go-part.com/index.php?cPath=52&o ... 5a0f4ffab8
just click on legacy and they pop up.
I short they list 3 parts #s for the manual A1434, C1434 and C1436. What's the deal?
Thanks for any help.

None of those on that site are for the turbo legacy, so they won't work.

It's OEM, so it will cost more. But it's probably the sure fire way to get your car running. Hopefully you have a 5MT, it'll save you some cash.
FYI
NA radiators can be made to work with the EJ22T. Its a small plumbing change...

Yeah.....big time. I'd really to get some more cooling capacity.555BCTurbo wrote:turboleg wrote: NA radiators can be made to work with the EJ22T. Its a small plumbing change...
And a large cooling capacity downgrade...

Ok, thanks for all the input.
Sucks that places like that list wrong. I say my instal is a donkey show because I bought a lightened 2002 WRX flywheel which was supposed to fit and doesn't, group N engine mounts which don't, a water pump that was listed as the turbo model but turns out is the N/A model and a gasket set missing several pieces and with some that were completely wrong. Good thing I asked about the rad. I'll just get one from the dealer, 250$ but no more dicking around.

Yikes! I thought the cores were the same size.555BCTurbo wrote: And a large cooling capacity downgrade...
I only ask because I didn't see any noticible difference in water temp after switching over. Even under high loads.
If you guys think this is a downgrade in cooling, I think I'm going to try another temp sensor (or just break down and buy a Turbo radiator).

NA radiator core is about 3/4", turbo about 1"
The turbo radiators have a much higher fin pitch on the outside. Should cool better at first, but they get all plugged up with crap over time. I had one that you could barely see light through. The NA has a lower fin pitch and my original NA radiator with 200k on it looked mint.
The Koyo has the lower fin count and shouldn't get plugged up at all.

The WRX flywheel & group n engine mounts should work....why didn't they work?Canadian Turbo wrote:Ok, thanks for all the input.

I'm not as mechanicaly savy as you guys, but this is what my mechanic says about the flywheel; The fork that pushes in the clutch bering is rubbing on either the flywheel or the pressure plate. I should also note that I got a new clutch, and this also for a 2L WRX.
Not sure why the group-n mounts didn't fit actualy these are the ones I got just because @ the time EVERYWHERE (that had a resonable price) was sold out of the real thing.

What the hell are those motor mounts? They should have a plate across the top with two holes in the tabs that extend beyond the mount itself to bolt to the engine and 1 bolt on the bottom that goes through the slot in the crossmember. The center part of the mount looks about right. I don't see how the mounts pictured would fit any EJ engine. I'm not as familiar with the transmission mount. Pitch stopper looks like it's probably right.
