If you want Subaru to cut new keys for the door, the lock code is stamped onto the passenger side lock cylinder. Then you could have a locksmith modify your other locks to fit that key.

problem is not one of the doors is original, all but the driver's door is from a black legacy, the driver's door is from a burgundy wine one...so I am out of luck there lol. I may pull the lock cylinders and the ignition and see if he can modify the tumblers to work with the ignition key. other than that I'd have to have a separate key for the doors and ignition and buy some rockauto locks.

I do have some free time headed my way, school is having a summer intersession for 7 weeks so I should definitley get this thing on the road then. I have had school for 6 days a week so this should give me tons of time to work on the Legacy. Before I get started on the essentials does anyone know what size the security bolts are on the valve cover?

why must birds crap all over everything I just got done painting...I think it is time to invest in a good pellet gun or an airsoft or something...time to send a message to any would be-bombardiers. Got the scoop painted, still need to cut out the hole in the hood itself and find some kind of rubber seal or weather stripping.

I also need to make a diffuser shroud for the scoop, school is in vacation mode so I have no access to a welder ATM, anyone local have one I could use? MIG, TIG other?

got around to some stuff recently :D

Image

got the driver's door primed
Image
Image
painted

even went the extra mile to paint the door sills so you won't know it was originally a white car
Image
Image
taped it all up nice nice
Image
Image
had to keep the details intact

Image
Image
looks like it is done here haha...I wish

Image
finished the last of the bondo work here, sorry about no step by step pics of this it was nearly 100 degrees outside
Image
not the best but a million times better than the nothing that was there lol

Image
and painted
Image

now to finish the drivers rear quarter and then jump to the other side and finally the roof.....hopefully it will go quickly as the PS pump on the RS is slowly crapping out on me, and I would much rather be driving the Legacy than the F150 again

thanks, not too shabby for my first ever time using any body materials...if I had a welder I could have made an actual rocker panel, the other side however needs to be cut the fuck out entirely to be done right. Someone went apeshit with the bondo and fucked it all up royally! it is like an inch wider than it should be and it just looks like a hackjob..I don't think I could make it look pretty if I tried....I am of course, going to try anyway, at least I can make the surface smooth and level so it won't be noticed at a glance. At least the driver's side is looking good :shades:

got some more done, in fact the only thing left to paint are the outsides of the 2 passenger doors and the hood. Check out some pics.

so got A LOT done today as I didn't have to watch the kiddo, bodywork is done and it will probably need one more coat after everything is painted just to make everything even and smooth, not much longer and this heap will be on the road!!

spend 2 hours out there trying to drill holes until I couldn't see anymore, managed to drill out the rad support bolts that broke...those fender bolts are a bitch though.....and I just realized I am too broke to buy theself tapping screws I need haha!

Also does anyone know where to get those ribber grommets for the radiator support brackets? they were just missing since I've had the car...doesn't seem to be any place that has that part, wondering if they are universal or something.

Are you talking about the ones in the lower radiator core support?

If so, you can buy them from Subaru. Part # is 45106AA020

nope the upper mounting ones that the hood prop rests on, the ones in the top holes of the rad, haha funny story, I saw a rubber grommet kit at harbor freight and just combined 3 different sizes to make it work...fits like a glove.
Image

front end is all back together, still need to finish the hood and roof, I was too busy today, but I borrowed an angle grinder so I can get that worked out tomorrow.

managed to get a tiny bit done before I got rained on so no painting today....
Image
cut out the hole in the hood and filed the edges down

not sure how well you can see it but I am tracing out a stencil to make my sandwich plate/shroud for the scoop. this is probably going to be a pain but what hasn't been on this thing so far.

Still need to paint the gas door the hood and the rood. I might also repaint the scoop as birds shitting all over it while the paint was dry fucked it all up...I fucking have a whole new hatred for all that is avian.

Even a small amount of gloss would help it clean off better. I used the kind of cheap wipe on paint protectant you can get anywhere when I had the flat black hood and trunk on my GL. Restored it from the terrible recurrent faded gray and gave it an almost satin look which made it easier to clean. Still sucked to clean if shit sat on it all day under the sun, though.
Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.

It actually is Satin black lol, it does have a bit more of a sheen than the flat black, which looks like a chalkboard IMO. But yeah after everything is on I am going to see if I can get the autobody guys at my school to give it a coat or 2 of Satin black to make it nice and even, hard to achieve with rattle cans.

I was so close to finishing today...then I ran out of paint :(

well I did get somethnig done today
Image
the hood is primed and ready

added a few accent's, there are some more just not pictured yet

all in all very close here, I am probably going to need some new tires as these ones are currently dry rotted and the front passenger' tire has a slow leak. Probably going to clean the rims up and hit em with some duplicolor gold :D should be lookin good after that!!

Ok so I needed to make a bracket or something to attach the hood scoop to the hood as all I have right now is a gaping hole in the hood.
Image

So I have this hood shroud from an 02 WRX that I am going to use but I still need to make an adapter plate to make it fit right.
Image

so I find an old mounting post for a set of window blinds and decide that will do
Image

I cut it down drilled a few holes in and VIOLA done, a little paint and it is lookin rather shnazzy
Image

FINALLY got it attached and lined up....let me tell you it was a humongous PITA but it is done and the end product looks pretty sweet
Image

Now I am just waiting for my buddy to come over and give me a hand with the hood and i'll be done!!

....well with the exterior anyway :)

Got the hood on, and just like I thought even though I used the same paint and put the same amount of coats on because I did the hood in the blaring sun and the rest of the car was in the shade...it looks waaaaay too glossy for Satin Black...I didn't even realize you could make it that shinny with this black....looks out of place, but whatever I can always sand it down and repaint it again.
Image

Also got the trunk on and switched lock cylinders over. Still need to paint the roof and redo the hood, but functionality is there now and once I get a battery it will be driveable!! w00t
Image

the hood is really pissing me off though, I must say.

Thanks, haven't gotten to the struts quite yet hehe, I am going to do that in a while I am going to see how the suspension is right now first, hopefully it can last a bit I have suspension class in school starting 10 weeks from the 22nd this month, so hopefully they can hold out, then i'll probably give this car's suspension a once over.

it is probably just low because the suspension is most likely just old and tired lol

Well the PS pump is going in my RS now, or at least the bearing on the pulley is spent...so the battery seems even farther out of reach now as a PS pump costs just about the same..Unless someone locally has one they might want to trade for something?
