I think this just might warrant me starting a build journal. 8)

Just learned that if there's no driveshaft installed, gear oil will flow freely from the rear output of the trans... So that's why the very nice importer guys had it wrapped in plastic, lol.

They're not legally allowed to ship it with any fluids in it. That's strange that they left oil in the trans.

The engine is full of oil too. Im surprised they would do that if it's illegal.

eBay, I believe the seller was JDM-Florida. I paid $1499 w/free shipping, plus a $75 residential fee. I'm pleased, everything was just as advertised, has the complete harness from the battery terminals to the ECU (in the trash bag), and includes all misc electronics from what I can tell, such as the BCS, MAP sensor, ignitor, etc. It doesn't appear to have been pressure washed and doesn't have any shine crap applied.

Yeah this will be a sweet upgrade, and you'll like the gear ratios on that tranny.

Yeah, that's a good idea. I can just do with the engine sitting there by jumping the starter, right?

Just put some twobyfours under the heads so it doesn't rock. Rig up a battery to your starter. I did this the other day on a d16y8 honda engine.

Dude, who would have thought tracking down all the little accessories for this swap would take over a month? I really wish I had a 5 speed shell to start with... this would have been done by now :(

Aside from the clutch line and merging the 4 channel ignition into my harness, not really sure what I would need custom as it looks like a straight swap. But I guess the fun part is learning that when you think you're ready and go to do the swap :)

Went way over budget on the parts for just the 5MT swap (don't even have a new clutch, I'm praying the one with the engine still has some life left). Looks like I will be doing just the 5MT swap and saving my 20G swap for many paychecks from now :( I will likely raid the injectors and TD05 though, and toss on my rob tuned ECU. That oughta leave me smiling for a while :)
