Crazy. Stock 5mt too. Thought electrics were automatic. I thought with an electric motor there would be no transmission. Or at least a completely different one.

Usually the need for a transmission is reduced or eliminated with an electric motor because most electric motors have 100% torque at zero RPM.

However, I'm guessing the desire to keep the AWD and ease of mounting contributed to the decision to keep it.

Friend of mine bought the motor from this guy. Only had like 25k on it. Guy was kinda nerdy, if i recall correctly he worked for microsoft or something like that. Cool idea though

I like it. Certainly fixes the WRX's drinking problem lol. Though I'd figure the characteristics of an electric motor would better suit and Outback or Tribeca. But that's just me.
