Running an ej22 with an ej22t ECU

Post by Abeall2 »

I have a spare naturally aspirated ej22 that I want to just throw in my car so I can drive it till I rebuild my ej22t, will my EJ22t ecu run this engine with no problems?

The simple answer is no it won't, or at least not very well. The fuel injectors on the turbo motor are larger. So if you run the non-turbo injectors the ECU won't like that.

Some people have run the non-turbo ECU in the turbo chassis. You would just need to swap the positive pins for the crank & cam sensors at the ECU. Those sensors are wired backwards between the non-turbo and turbo cars.

Hi,
Since your Sig states yours is a swap - like my original Legacy - you know what needs done to make it fit. I'd do the following:

- Swap injectors (or just do the whole IM)
- Run WG boost
- Run 93 Octane min.
- Monitor your AFR's and Knock, if possible

And don't drive it like it's an EJ22T.
