Dipstick?

Post by import_freak »

I was looking in the engine bay of the sube the other day, and noticed a yellow dipstick opposite the engine of the tranny dipstick. It's probably about 6 inches long or so. Just curious what's it for?

There are two dipsticks connected to the automatic transmission: one for the ATF and one for the gear oil in the differential. I'm not sure which is which since I'm not that familiar with the automatics, but you could figure it out just by pulling the dipstick out and looking at the color of the fluid (usually ATF is red and gear oil is gold).

Ya, okay i figured it was probably gear oil just wanted to make sure. The whole color thing though it's more like black. I guess I know what I'm doing this weekend.

The front diff dipstick is on the passanger side, and the ATF dipstick is on the driver side. Also the ATF stick says ATF (DEXRON II) on it.

probably only on the 92-94 models.

I know my 90 is just metal with a hook.....on both sides.....which is probably why people confuse them all the time.
