Re: Aki's '94 BC7
Ever run open down pipe? While my exhaust was getting modded to fix some fitment issues, I was driving open DP and got an after fire that sounded like a rifle shot that I could feel through my seat. Totally didn't scare the bejeezus out of me

Re: Aki's '94 BC7
I've thought about chopping off my muffler (3" straight-through) and just tossing one of those boom pipes on. Next to a WRX with one, my car really isn't any quieter. I actually think the WRX was still quieter with 1 cat and no muffler vs. my no cats and 1 muffler.

Re: How to swap an AT for an AT
I'd recommend getting the Haynes manual, they have instructions for removing the trans. Alternatively, you can download the '91 factory service manual, the link is in one of the stickies in the "stuff you need to know" forum. It's a little bit more than what you mentioned from e-How. While...

I did have uninsured motorist coverage in addition to liability on all my cars. I agree that specifically is a really good thing to have and it was quite cheap. I never thought much about it though.

Didn't someone else get the WRX ECU running the stock dash by repinning his old harness? Doesn't sound fun but less unfun than a dash swap.

Re: Bushings to help with squatting rear end
I believe those MSI arms are to correct geometry for lowered suspensions (MSI has an entire rear sub frame to go with that), not necessarily reduce squat in general. I personally would look at some updatedsprings before the bushings, as those can be quite a pain and IMO probably not your issue

Re: What did you do to your Subie today?
what ever bushings in the rear that will help with the handling and hopefully lessen the launch squat lol The anti-lift kit does help with front end lifting under acceleration. From what I understand, the ALK actually does the opposite of this. It removes some of the anti-lift geometry in the front...

10s sounds pretty darn rich. Guess that's why my MPG was only 14 if I drove like a teenager after my tune, lol.

Re: WTB: Looking to buy RS Type RA or Touring Wagon STi
Canada gets a special exception for cars manufactured there, and if a car is registered and titled in Canada it isn't subject to the stringent customs port inspections. I guess you could tell them the car was originally a non-Canadian import if you wanted to be Mr. GoodGuy. I'm sure nobody uses this...

Back to full coverage insurance thing....for example on the Impreza....I would have to do the math, but I would venture that if I would have carried full coverage on it since I bought it the insurance premiums would have easily covered the costs of buying the car. This tends to be my experience. Es...

Yeah, I'd say there's a much higher chance of finding them for sale from Canada, the UK, or the places with the Kangaroos than Japan.

I recall reading on here that the for the EJ25 SOHC, it wasn't as easy as a simple cam gear swap.

Re: Head stamp question
The heads aren't stamped to identify the motor's displacement AFAIK, at least not without some decoding through info that's not easy to come by. But if they were EJ25 heads, they would either be DOHC, or if they were SOHC you'd be demanded to show us full detail on how your intake manifold, cam gear...

Is there a specific year GT-B that has those axles, or was it a specific option? They aren't that uncommon.

Good luck!
Also, FWIW, the car needs to be 25 years old to the month of manufacture, not just model year.

Re: Legacy Turns 25! (Now Includes Part II)
They said the Sport Sedan only came as a 5spd. Oh, if only... lol. Otherwise another great read. I found it odd they thought the '94 GT wagon deserved special mention. Even if it was the only high roof first Gen sold in the US, there was still nothing remarkable about it in the sense of Legacy histo...

Re: Opinions on synthetic manual tranny/diff fluid vs gear o
Generally any GL-5 gear oil of the proper weight will be fine. Some work better with the synchronizers than others though. Subaru's Certified Gear Oil is a good choice if you want to spend lots of money. From my readings it seems Subaru stuff and Amsoil Severe Gear seem to be the favorites. Valvolin...

Re: spark plug out, white smoke
I wouldn't trust sucking the metal bits out personally, inside the cylinder tends to be wet and there will be some stick in there. Probably fine for those looking for the cheapest fastest repair that works though, as long as the big stuff is out you aren't going to destroy anything and a little extr...
