"Scratch Out" works as good as that, and takes about 30 seconds.

if you have both course (around 3,000 grit) and fine (plastic polish, or the finest clear coat polish) buffing compounds, and a power buffer, the hand sanding is completely unnecessary.

I can't see doing a good job with the lights on the car, remove them so you can get the edges without screwing up your trim, and throwing compound all over the place

meguires is nice since it has no waxes, so the clear coat will go on without fisheyes
