Steve - The French have helped us in the past with our independence, that's true, but it seems that since the Cold War ended when we were all that stood between them and the USSR they've taken to turning their noses up at us. I remember hearing a story about an american aircraft crew that was hosting French NATO troops a while ago. One of the troops on the ship made the comment "Do you speak German?" to one of the French pilots who was acting all snobby. When the pilot said "No" the crewman said "You're welcome."

Nice! I agree they've been less than appreciative and actually, to Allied spies, the French special police were worse than the Germans and the Resistence was horribly untrustwrothy and inept in most cases. I love how they built the Maginot Line and the Germans just went around it. And before someoen asks, 'Why pick on the French?' Why not? The Germans have been better allies since WWII and you want suffering without surrender? How about Britain at the brink with the Blitz (though now that little bitch Prince whateverthefuck wears a Nazi uniform on a lark) or the Russians losing millions to come back with a vengeance even in spite of their own monstrous leader 'purging' the military. If ever rape was justified it was when the Russians went into Germany. Surrender monkeys is a good name for the French. I'm not sure why I felt I needed to mention them with the Revolution. Since my mother told me to just focus on the negative: I do like Delages, Voisins, Facel Vegas, and the Citroen DS/SM. They were also aviation pioneers and have maintained a high position in that field.

Why does politics have to come in when we are talking about a Marine General? I am in the Army and I have to do what the elected government tells me to. What I believe doesn't matter, I will complete the mission I am given.

Why don't you come over here and tell some Iraqi you don't care about their freedom. I do, it's the best way to start to turn this reigon around and make some friends here that will be good allies. I watched the elections from the streets of Baghdad and it was awsome to be a part of that. The poeple here felt it, got a taste of freedom like it should be and you could feel it in the air.
