I don't know what progressive rendering does. Any modifications to add image size would need to be done somewhere in the bbs software.

By "progressive rendering" I just mean a browser rendering a web page before the entire page and all its images are downloaded. I know it's not that big a deal in this case, but it'd still be nice.

Would it be possible to make all the avatar images the same size? Or maybe somehow encode the dimensions of the image in the avatar filename (like naming them things like "admin_avatar_50x33.jpg")? If so, it should be pretty straightforward to modify the right PHP script.

Well, considering that the avatars are, on average, 1KB, and that they're hosted on the server, i'm not sure what that would accomplish.

You know what it would accomplish. You just don't think it's worth it. :)

I had been wondering that, too. . . . like 100x100 or 80x80 pixels?
