ah crap

Post by LegacyPunk »

my engine is accelerating without me :? ive got something wrong with my idle.

when im at stops the engine is at 1.5 RPM while in D.

In N it went up to 2 RPM then slowly back down to 1-1.5 RPM

when I got home and pushed on the accelerator in the engine bay a little bit to check to see if it was throttle plate related, it finally slowly went back down to a normal idle.

Any guesses for whats wrong?? TPS, ECU, Timing belts???

Loosen up your throttle cable and cruse control connections to the TB. They are 10mm nuts on both sides. See if that helps.

reach down and manually pull your gas pedal all the way up. If idle returns to normal, you've got a mechanical binding (cable adjustment, cable rot, carpet jammed under pedal linkage). if not perhaps the cable has slipped or you have an engine control issue

Looked like I had some gunk built up around area where the cables connect to the TB. Cleaned it up with some starter fluid and it seems to move better, let the car idle a little bit and everything was fine.
