This is some amazing glass work . My eyes almost popped out of my head when I saw it. I want to learn how to do this stuff. It's sculpture taken to the nth degree.
I guess Chihuly Glass is a big deal outside of Tacompton.. It's just glass blown by a pothead with one eye, just like any other glass. Dude makes some cool things, but it's nothing that I personally would throw wads of cash at..
I wanted to take glass blowing in school, but never got the chance.

Those that live near Pittsburg PA should go see the Yagani (sp? but pronounced Yac-a-gaini) store and glass works. They produce their own glass and everything. My mom is big in stained glass and does a lot with it and when we went to the store and saw some of the stuff they do with their glass, wow. I mean, wow. I've dabbled in glass blowing and polycarbonate tube blowing (more with polycarb than glass, got pretty good too) and the key to it is evenly heating things and evenly letting them cool. All you really need to play with the glass though is a good torch, propane with oxygen works well, and some decent pyrex glass (flint stress cracks too easy). It really gave me an appreciation for some of the stuff people do with glass.
As for earthships, my mother's boss (curator) is building a house out of straw bales. She's really damn cool and only a few years older than me ... mmm and a red head (I don't know what it is about red heads as I usually go for darker skinned brunettes, but I can't resist them) - I need a chance to ask her out!
