Way to go, Dell! *Roll Eyes*
On Friday we had a power outage and when I go to start my computer, I notice the little green light is on. I push it and nothing happens. I called Dell and after some trouble shooting, we figured out that I need a new power supply unit, processor, and mother board. The funny thing is that I have a surge protector and the same thing happened to me once before, but fixed itself. Sooo, I have to wait untill Monday to resume my post whoring.

We sell surge protectors where I work and have had people complain of similar problems with the cheap ones. We now tell customers about this and recommend getting a better(more expensive) one, but we still carry the cheap ones for people that don't beleive salesmen. I really don't blame them, as I don't trust salesmen, but this is true!

I being employed by Dell know for a fact we can be a PITA. I personaly reccomend using a battery back up instead of a surge protector. They have them built in and you won't endure hardware failure due to power loss or spike.
I apologize for your loss and hope Dell takes care of you to a level you would expect from a company of our size.'
I wish I could help you personaly but I have nothing to do with the repair aspect.

If youre really concerned about it happening again find a decent UPS (Uninterupted Power Supply) its like a surge protector and backup battery thing.

That doesn't really sound like dell's fault. If they warranty your stuff, id consider it an act of kindness. IMO, dell is really on top of their product; they're the only place i'd buy a hard drive that i was going to depend on.
