Fuel odor

Post by Tleg93 »

Does anyone have any idea why my car would reek like fuel when it's just sitting there?

I've changed the fuel filter and checked some of the hoses.

Just sitting there not running?

Maybe the fuel cap is bad? Or maybe there's a leak in the line going from the tank to the charcoal canister? Or maybe the charcoal canister is bad?

Where does the smell come from? The front or the back?

It seems to come from the back. I hope it's not a rusted tank or fill tube. I have difficulty believing it is.

I think the filler tube is plastic, so it shouldn't rust. But I guess it could be a leak where the filler tube joins the tank.

Maybe you should just try swapping the fuel cap over from your NA and just see if that changes anything. It couldn't hurt to try.
