04 WRX exhaust for a 93 N/A?

Hey everyone, I saw a really good deal on the stock 04 WRX turbo-back exhaust system, and considering the goobered nature of my poor, rusty pipes, I thought it was worth buying it to see if I could make it fit. It's in the mail as we speak, so I don't have it at hand to compare to what's there, but has anyone done it? Is the pipe going to have to be cut all to hell so that it fits in a N/A car? Is there any benefit of using the WRX cat over my 12-year-old legacy's cat? Just tell me what to swap over, and I'll take it to the muffler shop and get it done proper. I'm inclined to try to use as much of the new system as possible.. Any thoughts?

I know it's cause you live in Nazi-ville Utah, but C'MON!
He can buy whatever he wants, whether he consults us or not. In fact, when it comes to exhaust, things can be done creatively to use the parts he's got, whatever use they may have.

Thanks for the support Sleeper.. my thinking was that it was cheap enough I could sell/give it away to someone on here if it wasn't a feasible project to get it onto the legacy. Moreover, i know I don't need a downpipe, but I meant more can I use the cat-back section as is, or would I need to cut off the pipes entirely and get some steel bent and welded for it. Either way, I paid for the whole shebang what I would have paid for a muffler and a couple hangers, so I'm in good shape overall.

Do it! Take it to your local exhaust shop and ask 'em what could be done.. that way, you get it from the horses' mouth, and you've got your options clearly explained. *shrug*
I myself am looking into a set of headers, so that I may maximize on a custom exhaust, which I hope will straighten a few things out with my gas mileage and acceleration..

I have no idea if it'll fit, but keep us updated.
I suspect I will need a new exhaust soon too.

no worries. I'll just tell the exhaust shop to use as much as they can, and fab/fudge the rest. Thanks for the input. Also, I read about WRX exhaust whistling in another thread.. but no one elaborated. Anyone know anything about that?

I wouldn't use as much as they can, really.

Why? Because you will get bent over for labor.

You can bolt the axleback to your stock pipes (extending it a few inches), and have the sound.

If you really want a cat-back, just have them run a new pipe. The WRX pipe is no larger than your stock pipe, IIRC, and it won't have any noticeable sound gain. What does have a sound gain, is a straight stainless pipe in place of where the stock mild pipe was.

Should only cost a few bucks, probably around 100 or so.

actually, the reason I got the wrx setup and not an aftermarket muffler is that I wanted something pretty quiet. This is a great car, but it has more than a little body damage, and is n/a.. so there's really no sense in me turning heads with big, boomy exhaust. If its loud at wot, that's allright, but for normal driving, I'd rather not stand out of the crowd. (the crowd in the east bay includes untold millions of FUCKING LOUD imports, often trying to hit 8500rpm as they go around my corner at 3am, bastards...)

so, I guess my question is just will there be a performance gain with the new muffler? how about the cat? and will they sound civil and peaceful?

many of us have turbos here and thats why wrx exhaust work for some of us after modifacation.

on a na car at leas 1 part of the wrx exhaust will not bolt on in any way.

if there is a performance gain it will be little but probaly noticeable
