Its been a while...

Post by TheSubaruJunkie »

Its been a while since I've posted here, but Ive still been lerking. Been trying to keep busy on the RX. Since I sold my turbo legacy (to flip_x) i haven't had a need to post here. I thought some of you would like to see what I've done with my '87 RX.

I think last i left off were the rims... but for those who may have missed it, here they are:

I also got sick of seeing my Saab 900 IC sitting in a box, so I went to home depot, Ace hardware & OSH and collected parts to install it.

Here's I/C Install version 1.0:
Image

This was pretty much a rough draft, and a test to see if I could pull it off and how the engine would respond. I could feel alittle difference in performance, but nothing major.
I discovered that the rubber elbows I purchased bulge at about 4psi, so I quickly started shopping for a replacement setup.

A few U bends here, and a couple silicone couplers there... and we have I/C Install verson 2.0:

I have since had the BPV bung welded to the intake plentum, I swear, there's no duct tape on my pipe :)

And last, but not least... the most HP for the money!!!

DECALS!
Not your average NOS or STi decals, but better....

Other than that, thats about it. I also upgraded the stereo alittle. Got a Clarion CD/MP3 deck. Last week I also installed 2 new amps and subs. Hooked a 425watt MTX 2channel to my door speakers (220watt Pioneer 8x6s) and connected a single channel 600 watt amp to two 10" Comp Kickers. Yeh, its loud.

I was shopping ebay and got a MBC and a new boost gauge (mine is kinda flakey). I also bid on a WRX Scoop to install, we'll see how that goes.

Anyhow, i'll try to keep track of this thread. If not, you can always find me on the USMB (http://www.ultimatesubaru.net/forum/)

Oh... and i forgot. Ive gotten a new digital camera, so pretty much everything is well documented with pictures. You can see them all in my New gallery at: http://gallery.usmb.net/rx

I was wondering what happened to you. Looks great. Better use of the spare tire well than stock.

The IC install looks really clean, Brian. Good job!

(We need to get Laurel's AWIC done, now.)

Glad you got use of the AWIC Doug. Hope to see you at WCSS7 with it on there. Same goes for you Art, i was talking to Laurel the other day and she told me the radiators mounted, but no AWIC action?? The hard part is over, now just plumb that bitch and get it in her wagon :).

I won the WRX scoop off ebay. 2002 scoop, but needs to be shortened by 5.3"

It would look something like this:

My scoop wont have the 2 fins in the center though, and will probably sit a few more inches toward the windshield.

I used a turbo legacy hood scoop on my RX. Flowed quite nicely.

Got any pix of that J?

Laurel, i was talking to a guy at work who has done some fiberglass work. We were talking about comming up with some custom job... not too sure if that will take place yet.

I will do some brainstorming with the WRX scoop and see what I can come up with.
