Converting Coil on plug to Wasted spark

I know this has been beten to dealth, but Humor me and please point out any flaws in my reasoning ,

If I were to connect the power wire that goes to all four coils to a wasted spark coil, Then keep the 4 channel ignitor I currently am using and connect cyl 1-2, to the front bank of the coil, and cyl 3-4 to the rear bank of the coil, then essentially I'd have a wasted spark setup, right? Am I missing anything here,
As far as I know power is always to the coil, the ecu then sends a signal to the ignitor to ground the current, it then completes the circuit and a spark is created.
My engine is running really rough, and I thought this might be a quick and cheap way to fix it.
What do you think?
