Such a satisfying feeling...

Post by BAC5.2 »

I installed a set of RacingBrake 4-pots on my friends 02 WRX and did his rear brakes also, and got pretty dirty in the mix.

That's not what this is about.

What it IS about, is the cleanup afterwards.

Is it just me, or is it just a really good feeling to have nothing but black and dirty water stream off of you in the shower after a hard day of car working? I washed my legs and arms off, and there was a black stream running to the drain.

I just find that to be a totally satisfying feeling. Am I alone in that?

Sounds kinky, Laurel. (*than)
I know what you mean, Phil. There's nothing better than seeing all the dirt come off you, and being able to get out, knowing you're clean. :D

Yeah, I agree. I like being elbows-deep in a project and look like I just swam through an oil pit, then wash up and go out and hang out with friends, them being completely unaware that I was just disgustingly filthy :)

Could we have some more details on this, possibly a picture....just kidding, Art.

I really love hot showers when you're dirty it's like you've gotten something accomplished and the shower is the renewal that comes after a hard fought battle. It's most rewarding.

Maybe I'm not a "real" man or something but I hate getting dirty. I use the mechanic gloves when I can and I use sergical gloves when I need to feel what I'm doing.

I have always loved watching the filth flow down the drain! It's funny that you started this thread Phil because it's something I never really thought other people would like too.

For me it really started with skateboarding. After a day of slamming on dirty ass black top I would always love to watch the dirty water flow off of me in the shower.

i have never gotten that dirty. i usualy use a jump suit and gloves.

even when i do get my hands dirty i can never get them clean. i could use a scotch pad and you would still be able to tell i was working on a car for days.

I can't stand wearing gloves when I work on the car. The only time I wear the mechanix gloves are when I'm working on big things that might smash my fingers, hot stuff, or grinding/cutting.

I usually will attempt to get the real greasy stuff off with the orange gojo before hopping in the shower. Go take a shower with that stuff......mmmmm pumice

I wear them when i'm torqueing on stuff because i seem to have a habit of smashing my hands into stuff when the really tight bolts come free. I've got quite a few scars on my hands from that crap and some new ones from a few days ago taking the cam cover off the driver side.

I don't like getting dirty that much anymore. If i could find some of the gloves we have at work I'd wear them all the time. They're latex, but they're thicker and don't tear easily, also the part from the palm to the fingertips is covered in small bumps so it makes gripping stuff really easy.

Nirtile gloves? They are latex free and thicker and a LOT more durable than latex gloves. I used them at work.

I always wear the mechanix gloves. They have saved my hands far to many times for me to stop wearing them.

Naa, I don't like those. They don't flex as much as latex gloves do.

Word. I can't feel what I'm doing unless it's my bare hands. I'd rather get cut up and feel what I'm doing. Besides, chicks dig scars anyway.

I use the orange Gojo too. Stuff kicks ass. Never taken a shower with it though. I have taken a shower with a Lava bar after my transmission removal, and lemme tell ya, that stuff takes EVERYTHING off your skin, including moisture!

Lava sucks.

I use this stuff I got from the bike shop. THAT shit gets EVERYTHING off. Makes Lava look like shit.

I usually wear atlas fit gloves. they are cloth with thin rubber on the palm and fingers, really good for gripping stuff, and I got a shitload of em for free at my work. they didnt save me from bashing my finger with a framing hammer though :x
