I'm getting really sick of....

Post by legacy92ej22t »

Looking at my car seeing things that need fixed! I went to drive over to Scotts house the other night and it was pouring down rain. I get in expecting to have a slightly wet passenger side seat. I've caulked it and done the drain lines but it will still drip a little when it rains real hard and the car sits. So, I sit down and start the car and immediatly am soaked. The entire driver side was soaked! I don't mean a little damp either, it was completely soaked like I dumped a pitcher of water on it.

This pissed me off to no end! I almost went inside to get my mini sledge so I could just beat the sunroof to little bits. I know I can fix it but I don't want to. I'm getting sick of the little shit. I don't even like the fucking sun roof. I wish I didn't have a fucking sunroof. It would be one less thing I'd have to worry about.

I'm really starting to get the new car bug. I love Subarina and I know once I fix the clutch and feel the boost again that I'll be singing a different tune but I'm going to be 30 next week and I want a car that is tits and doesn't need constant attention. Hmmmm, it might be time for a swap into a newer chassis. Hmmm.....

Do you really want to swap into a newer chassis though? It sounds like you're thinking like 96-00 or something. It's still going to have little shit that needs to be fixed. I say if you want a car that doesn't need anything get a brand new one, or just save your money and deal with the problems one at a time.

I can only imagine how frustrated you must feel, Matt... It's like all these things adding up...

For the sunroof thing alone, though, could you just disconnect the harness connectors to the sunroof switch (disabling it) and then go around the edges of the sunroof with windshield adhesive, sealing it tightly? For 10 minutes of work you'd never have to worry about the sunroof again...

What day is your birthday next week?

ive seen the roof skin off it doesnt look TOO tough.

Happy birthday, man.

It sounds like you've got a case of Mytoyismydailitis, and i have a cure. Pick up a 500$ geo metro and drive that around half the time. It will pay for itself in gas and insurance, and when you jump in subarina and get a saggy fanny, you won't care, subarina is big and fast and fun. As an added bonus, if rina conks out, the egg on wheels can get you where you need to be.

Not a terribly fun suggestion, but cheapest in the end, and 'fast' is relative.

fast is indeed relative.

i could drive my NA FWD legacy WAY harder than i can drive my SS before i get in over my head. at times the FWD was a bit more fun.

then i hit the gas on my SS and am reminded how much more fun the SS is overall.

Hardy-No, I don't really want to swap into a newer chassis and have all the headaches that go with it but at the same time I'm getting sick of my 13 yr old shell that is pissing me off to no end.

V- Ya, I'm getting really frustrated. I need to fix the clutch, then I need to fix the blower motor still, then I need to get both front fenders replaced because they completely rotted out this winter and it wont pass inspection, I need to fix the sunroof, I need to address the FP. I need new shifter bushings too. The list goes on....

That's a good suggestion. I might do it.

My B-day is May 2nd. I think it's a week from today.

Greg- Thanks for the suggestion but I doubt I'll be doing that. I'm not really comfortable doing metal work myself and I'm sure as hell not going to pay to have someone else do it.

Scott-Thanks. :)

That's another good suggestion but it wouldn't really solve the feelings I'm having. I'm wanting a new car that has no issues and is pimp. Like a new Legacy GT or something. I don't know, I just want a really nice car.

you should try and replace the centering spring on the shfter before you tear it apart and monkey w/the bushings. check out my part number appreciation thread in the review forum.

mine was missing so it made a huge difference. the spring had alot of tension in it so im sure after 13 years of shifting it has probably gotten pretty weak. it was the best 1.50 i ever spent.

My blower motor has started cutting out when it's cold sometimes... So far it's always come back after a swift kick to the trim panel by the dead pedal.

Matt - We can do your lower shifter bushing at the F&S. I can bring all the tools we need, you just need the bushing by Energy made for the GD chassis.

I went through the same "I want a new car" thing a while ago, and I came to find out that the new car that was pimp that would keep me happy, was pushing the limits of affordability. So I keep Lauren, I'm going to get a pimp brakes setup, some good suspension, good sticky tires, and a front mount and leave it alone for a while. Exploit what the car is good at (going fucking balls out fast) and make better the things that suck (brakes, suspension).

In the end, our 10+ year old cars are still our babies, and I came to realize that putting the money into the Legacy would be far more rewarding than putting that same money into an STi. Everyone and their grandma has an STi around here, and everyone of them that makes good power makes the same power with the same stuff. But how many 214whp/251lb-ft BC chassis' are running around in the Metro-DC area? I can count one...

It's that fact alone, that makes me deal with the little annoyances about the car, and I don't mind fixing them. The weather is getting nicer, and things are turning around. Can you really picture a better day than accomplishing something to make your baby run better on a sunny day in May? I, personally, love those days. A warm day, a cold beer, and dirt and grease up to your elbows with something to show for it at the end of the day.

Well I didn't really mean the swap headaches, I meant that particular car headaches. Like you said though, once you get the clutch settled and start boosting again you'll be singing a different tune. I'd be at wits end with the sunroof thing, but just keep on. It'll all work out.

Funny thing about the sunroof. After the fact. I had the same problem with my winestone, the drains helped a lot but it would still leak on me.
