Oil On new Plug wires

Post by bmxpunk »

It's a long story, but i keep a 5 quart jug-o-Castrol in the trunk, for road trips becase my car is leaking oil and I havent done my swap yet. Any way I had some parts in the trunk like plug wires and fuel pump and my turbo. anyway the jug just broke as did the box for the plug wires so now they are coated. Are they done for or can I just clean them off.

There is a chance that the oil would damage the rubber insulation and cause it to crack prematurely. But, if they're good plug wires and they haven't been soaking in the oil for too long, I would imagine they'd be okay... Clean 'em off with isopropanol or something.
