subyluvr shakes his head

Post by entirelyturbo »

My friend and I were bored senseless last night, so we went to the closest rice-fest we could find (there are plenty around here believe me.)

So we pull in and about 2 minutes later, a WRX pulls up and my jaw literally drops to the floor...

This car had the factory 16" wheels on the front and 18" SSR-lookalikes on the back!!!

I walked up to him and told him "You know you're destroying your transmission right??"

He looked at me in utter confusion. :(

I told him that the front and back wheels have to match pretty much EXACTLY, otherwise you're just tearing up your center differential.

He mentioned that he had heard something about that. Then he asked me "What am I supposed to do? I can't afford the other two wheels yet!!"

I told him to just put his factory rears back on until he can get the other wheels.

I'm surprised at myself for being very nice and friendly, and not doing either of these two things that I really wanted to do: punch him in the face, or fall on the ground laughing.

He thanked me and I went on my way.

Did you check to see what size the tires were? If the front were stockers and the rear were 195/45-18 then he would be fine. That's within the specs.

Or 295/30-18

Even if the guy didn't know it was bad for is center diff, it would still look ugly. Some people.

Almost every other car in the greater DC area has two pimp wheels and two stockers. They're everywhere, it's funny as hell.

No wonder dealers refuse warranty claims from "modded" looking cars.
Bet he has those 18s so he can brag about having 18s.
