Went for a nice drive the other day

Post by jamal »

After getting frustrated working on all the final project stuff I had due yesterday, I decided to get in my car and take a nice, relaxing drive at about midnight Sunday. I drove up Figuroa through downtown L.A., ended up by Dodger Stadium, then griffith park, which was closed for the night, and went across the Ventura Freeway to Sepulveda and Mulholland:

Got to try out the lights. They're awesome, although they still vibrate a bit and could be aimed a little better. This is the new design for the mounts.

This part was especially fun:

I kind of wish I'd been able to head west from Sepulveda all the way to the PCH, though. I should have checked out that Mulholland raceway site and some maps beforehand. Instead I just ended up randomly driving north from my house and heading up over there.

Unfortunately I noticed a little looseness coming from the front left. It's probably the ball joint, I think. At least they only cost like $25. I was hoping that occasional clunking was the strut, which is coming out in a few weeks. Plus, my tires are not going to last much longer, RE92 with 30% tread do not grip well on dirt, my suspension still hasn't been replaced, and I ended up going through over a half tank that day. Well worth it, though.

I might have to do it again sometime this week and plan out my route a little better. I have finals Friday and Saturday.

Anyone else take a nice drive lately?

Just flat-shaded in AutoCAD. I would have liked to keep it a flat shape to minimize the cutting of my bumper, but this shouldn't be too bad. It's going to be 2 x 1/2 x 3/16 and 7" long, mounted the same way as the current 2 x 3/16 brackets.

I went on a very nice drive the other day. It was the sweetes drive I've taken since I started driving. Do you want to know why? Because I just got my license back! I went out Rt. 87 in Montoursville and did some pulls. Aaaah, it felt good! :)

Outran a FD in some very very twisty stuff  two days ago on a pleasure drive. He passed me on the other wrong side of a double yellow straightaway at the bottom. I really wish people wouldnt do that.

It sure made my day though. 8)
