What's your car's name?
And why is it named that?
My 91 was named Ruby, because that's what the paint color was, and my mom thought that was a nice name for her when my parents bought her new. My 92 is named Hana. After a fair amount of trying to decide, I went to a baby names website and did a search for japanese girls' names. The name Hana(pronounced On-uh) means blossom. Well, that fit too well with subaru's name choice of cherry blossom red for their pink, so that's her name.
I did a search and couldnt find anything, though I'm relatively sure it's been covered before. Oh well!

I just refere to my car as my baby. When I'm in a relationship then I refere to my car as my number one baby, she never lets me down. I'm not too good at naming things, my gecko is merely named Buddy.

I refer to my 90 as "the legacy." Not original or amusing, but I have a bizarre fear that she was named in the past, and calling her something else would somehow cause problems. I have no idea what sort of kooky names the previous owners might have came up with.

haha I guess there was another postMy 91 was named ruby, the day we bought it, after the paint color (ruby mica metallic), but as i grew up with the car, she grew into the name, being the cool mother figure in my life. Ruby the subby. (also know as the "PARTYWAGON")
The 92 took a bit longer. After driving the car for a couple weeks, and racking my brain trying to think of something clever, but fitting, I considered Ada, a good old woman's name(silver car, silver hair) after a woman that I worked with at sears who looked so sweet and innocent but would get angry sometimes and shake and yell, it was so cute. After pitching the idea to a few friends, they dismissed it, as Ada sounded thin, and my car has a fat ass. I checked a baby names website for inspiration, and found a japanese names section, since my car was "conceived" in japan, i felt it only necessary. I found a good, fitting name, that means "blossom" in japanese (made me think of cherry blossom red(sti pink)) Hana. (pronounced "on- a")

Subarina.
I called her that off the top of my head as a joke one night and it stuck.
My wife named her old Forester S, Ester. Our Ford Explorer before that was Fordy, again named by my wife.
I haven't really named the Tahoe. I usually just call her my little ho.

Does Piece of Crap count as a name? What about Rusty Piece of Junk?
I'm not good at naming things either... I've never named my fish, and the rat I had kept its name from its previous owner.

I name my cars as a rare concession to convention, but I just call it the car most of the time.
Duke of Earl was playing on the radio when I drove it home, so I called it Duchess after the line, "you'll be my duchess of Earl". I've kind of rechristened it Barbarella after Electric Barbarella by Duran Duran which has to do with my second novel, "Black September".

Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.

I just call my car Suby. My wife hates it when I talk to my car. I got her in '98 with 51111 miles on her clock. She was in pristene condition. I think an older couple had her before me. Anyway, she's never let me down, always starts with the first turn of the key and no matter how sick she gets, she always makes it home. We had lots of fun bonding in Alaska. I drover her from Alaska through Canada to Idaho. From there to California. All in one trip. We also went from Cali to Vegas on several occasions. I wanted to drive across country last year but the wife shot that down. I know she would've made it too. I really love this car and I don't want another. Ok, I'll stop now but I can go on forever.

Nekuruma. It's a combination of the words for "cat" and "car" in Japanese. I just kinda... thought of it. It's her official name, but... I never really refer to it, so... yeah... ^-^;
Usually I refer to her as "my car."

That's funny cuz my RS is Subarina. I think I covered it in the first thread, but will tell the story again. At the time I bought car I was dating a gurl named Tina. She was of Dutch origin and her full name was Hendrina Hubertina Hoeben. I guess the Dutch roll names down through the family and when it is a gurl, they add an "ina". Her father was Hendrick and grandfather Hubert. So, I named my RS Subarina.legacy92ej22t wrote:Subarina.

And my '94 Touring wagon was Leggy, for obvious reasons. I haven't named the 914 yet, but will find something that fits it...
