i heard a pop...

Post by legacy2 »

So i was pulling my subaru out of the way now that the tranny is out so i could bring my other project car in. so i was pulling it at about 10mph then i hear a pop and a bang and kind of a crunch and the car jerked and stopped me like a rock, i thought o sh** so i look and the wheel on the front was off, laying about 10 yards away but was still bolted to the lugs and the disc was on the wheel too. so i thought, no problem i'll fix it, then i saw that the bearing had poped out, then i was like sh**, i can see that the a-arm had drug about 10 yards too and then i look at the car again, and my fender is smashed in, this is where i got pissed off. the tire crushed the fender and i cant even open the passenger side door, and it scratched the passenger side door too, damn it! so now i have to get a new fender and repaint it but i'll live, i suppose i forgot to put the brake assembly back on which is why it fell off, im dumb. so, lesson learned, never drive with brake assembly, or axle off, i learned

Sounds like your wheel bearing failed.

At least you should be able to find a fender fairly easily. Sucks mang.

Never move a car without the axles in the the hubs !
They hold the bearings together!
If no axles or just the stump available to put in the hole,
I sometime use a long bolts and two big washers to keep the bearing from splitting apart.

yes, i learned my lesson, but im lucky, my brother knows someone that will repaint anything for just the price of the paint, and ive seen what kinda work he does, its awesome. and yea, fenders around here are common, and i can get one for $25, and paint should only be another $50
